Something for Everyone
I was born and raised in Jamaica till the age of 15 when my parents migrated to the US.
Food has always been a major influence in our family. My mom has also been a huge gardener. My cultural background and the interests of my parents have influenced my life as well.
I am married to my high school sweetheart for 25 yrs, a mother of 5 beautiful children. I have been a nurse for 20 yrs and love caring for my patients. I enjoy cooking and entertaining family and friends. I love gardening, the satisfaction of watching something you plant and nurture grow and produce fruit is very satisfying. I use my herbs and vegetables in my cooking every day. I have been interested in sewing as long as I can remember. I have made some clothes for myself and also enjoy working on household projects.
I started making hot sauce as a result of my son Nygel growing hot peppers and his own hot sauce. He stopped making the hot sauce and had a bunch of peppers left over. The pepper plants were still producing. So I adopted the plants and used the peppers to make some hot sauce and loved it. I shared it with some friends and family and they loved it as well.
I decided to start selling it to them and the rest is history.
I use the herbs I grow along with the peppers to make the hot sauce.
As a nurse, wearing the stethoscope around my neck is a usual part of my shift. The rubber tubing was causing some irritation to my neck so I decided to make a stethoscope cover to alleviate it. I had many compliments and requests with offers to pay for them. I started selling them with success. I have created the stethoscope cover to be shortened while assessing the patient. They are washable and the wrinkles can be removed with a worm iron. The stethoscope covers are coupled with a pouch made from the corresponding fabric for all a nurse’s frequently used items (pen, scissors, penlight, etc.).
